Mlambe Foundation is assisting the Cultural Coalition of Malawi with a website. The Cultural Coalition was formed at the 2011 National Conference on the Cultural Industries organized by the UNESCO National Commission in Malawi and the Malawi Department of Culture. It aims to bring together all stakeholders in Malawi's cultural sector to collectively address challenges and share information on opportunities. Mlambe Foundation was elected in the steering committee of the Coalition.
Since its formation the Coalition managed to achieve but little. Lack of funding has been a critical factor. As the Coalition is not a legal entity, it can moreover not apply for funding. The Coalition chairman Prof. Magalasi managed to find some seed funding though which was used to hire a programmer at Beetech to develop the website.
Beetech is a social enterprise based in Chilomoni, Blantyre. Mlambe Foundation has been coordinating the process and will ensure content delivery now the structure has been setup. Mlambe Foundation is also hosting the website. Once fully up and running teh website should be a great tool for information sharing within the sector
